‘Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington Breaks His Silence About Jon Snow’s Fate: ‘Sorry’ I Couldn’t Reveal The Truth
Last night, “Game of Thrones” finally revealed the fate of Jon Snow (Kit Harington), one of the show’s most beloved characters. In last season’s finale, Snow was stabbed to death by his Night’s Watch brothers and left to die of his wounds in the snow. After almost a year of fan speculation over whether or not Snow was really dead, last night’s episode gave everyone a definitive answer: After Davos (Liam Cunningham) pleads with sorceress Melisandre (Carice van Houten) to attempt to resurrect Snow, she performs a ritual seemingly to no avail, but when everyone leaves the room, Snow awakens on the table. Last night, EW talked to actor Kit Harington about the reveal and he finally breaks his silence about Snow’s fate. Watch a video excerpt above.

In the excerpt, Harington says he’s “sorry for lying to everyone,” but that he’s “glad that people were upset that [his character] died.” He says, “I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.”
Harington is best known for his role in “Game of Thrones,” but he’s also known for his role as the gladiator Milo in “Pompeii,” Roland Leighton in “Testament of Youth,” and socially-inept tennis child prodigy Charles Poole in the short film “7 Days in Hell.” He will star in Martin Koolhoven’s upcoming western thriller “Brimstone,” and will be featured in Xavier Dolan’s upcoming movie “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,” currently in pre-production.
