Watch: Tommy Lee Jones Gets More Than He Bargained For With Hilary Swank in Trailer for ‘The Homesman’
“Three crazy women for five weeks is a lot more than I bargained for.”
So says Tommy Lee Jones after being saved from certain death in exchange for helping his savior, Hilary Swank, with anything she pleases. Jones is returning to the wild west in his second feature film intended for theatrical release, and fourth directing job overall. The director and star of “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” is back in the saddle for “The Homesman,” a western with Swank, John Lithgow, Tim Blake Nelson, Hailee Steinfeld, and James Spader.
The film is expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is already listed as an entry on its IMDB page (though it also has appearances at Telluride in August and TIFF in September penciled in). The site lists a limited release on October 3rd for the film, but given no one knows the Cannes lineup — not that we don’t have our guesses — let alone Telluride and TIFF, we’re going to take that date with a grain of salt.
In the trailer below, fans of “Friday Night Lights” will spot a grown up Lance/Landry Clarke and everyone will undoubtedly appreciate the brief appearance by Meryl Streep. Take a gander for yourself, and find out if “The Homesman” will find a home at Cannes on Thursday.
