Sundance Institute Announces Quiver Digital Distribution Deal

On the eve of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, the Sundance Institute has partnered with Premiere Digital in a new deal that will give Institute alumni participating in the Artists Services program access to a new distribution service called Quiver Digital, Mashable announced earlier today.

Through Quiver Digital, artists will be given access to a number of major online retailers. Parent company Premiere Digital, has direct distribution deals with major digital platforms and recently created a self serve distribution portal for independent filmmakers which will offer encoding, licensing, and digital delivery services to media platforms including: iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, Sony Entertainment Network and more. Artist Services will provide Institute filmmakers exclusive access to a menu of platforms and distribution models including a discounted upfront fee which pays out 100% of gross revenue received.

The new partnership is designed for entrepreneurial filmmakers who are looking for a creative direct digital distribution strategy. Filmmakers can choose whether to pay for encoding/delivery/licensing services per outlet of filmmaker choice and receive 100% of the money that comes in or choose one of two revenue share options without having to pay Premiere Digital/Quiver, but with Premiere Digital/Quiver receiving a modest distribution fee.

In addition, Premiere Digital/Quiver is finalizing the building of a state-of-the art dashboard custom for Sundance that will allow Sundance Artist Service filmmakers to choose their own outlets, territories and other release features, all while seeing real-time financial performance data.
