“[The film] dramatizes racism in Hollywood and the difficulty non-white actors face in getting roles that are outside the stereotypes written for them,” Mancinelli said. “I think this is an important issue that is often times overlooked in film and the story ties in to the overarching conversation of the role of Hollywood.”

“A Leading Man” stars Jack Yang as an actor who has to accept a role that is a harmful racist stereotype. He is romantically involved with a casting director, which has both personal and career benefits, but his frustration builds as it becomes cleared how unexciting his opportunities are. Starring alongside Yang are Heather Mazur, Pat Tsao, Raymond Lee and Kate Miner.

Mance Media has slated “A Leading Man” for a September 12 theatrical release and plans a VOD, DVD and television premiere to follow.
