The Leftovers” officially announced a release date for its second season at this year’s Television Critics Association press tour — per a trailer screened for critics by HBO, the vaguely supernatural drama about the aftermath of a Rapture-like event will return on Sunday, October 4.

The trailer also teased big reveals about what comes next as the core characters transplant from their Season 1 location of Mapleton, New York to a mysterious Texas town where no one vanished during the Sudden Departure. (But here’s a hint: Just because no one vanished from Miracle, Texas, that doesn’t mean anyone is safe.)

And a random aside: For those who watched Season 1, know that Ann Dowd is set to return as a series regular for Season 2… Despite the events of Season 1. Producers were incredibly mysterious about the casting, though, referring obliquely to Patty’s presence as “a giant problem that needs to be solved,” but not explaining how exactly she might be coming back.

While we wait for more footage (and October 4), below check out a series of images HBO released from the upcoming season, featuring new cast members Kevin Carroll and Regina King, and Christopher Eccleston’s terrible haircut.
