After breaking out in 2013 with his hit “Viola,” Matías Piñeiro followed up with “The Princess of France.” The film has been acquired by Cinema Guild in advance of its world premiere, which will come tomorrow at the Locarno Film Festival. It is a drama that the distributer hopes will unite new and returning Piñeiro fans.

“‘Princess of France’ is an absolute marvel, a film bursting with ideas and mysteries that will delight fans of ‘Viola’ and newcomers alike,” said Cinema Guild’s Ryan Krivoshey. “We are incredibly thrilled to be releasing it and to continue our relationship with Matias, who has indeed come to be a dear friend.”

The film is about a man named Victor who returns home to Buenos Aires to the life he once abandoned, bringing with him aspirations of introducing theater culture to his home. The drama increases when the five women who audition for his piece are all already a part of his life, complicating his relationship with each of them.

“The Princess of France” premieres at Locarno tomorrow and will get a release in early 2015.
