Watch: Martin Freeman Tries Out His Minnesota Accent The First Trailer FX's 'Fargo'

After a slew of more abstract, mood-setting teasers, FX has finally released its first trailer for “Fargo,” its new limited series inspired by (but not a remake of) the great Coen brothers film. The video, below, gives a better sense of what the story will be — Martin Freeman plays Lester Nygaard, a downtrodden, frustrated salesman lured into trouble by mysterious drifter Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton).

In addition to all the Minnesota trappings, “true” crime narrative and deadpan humor, you have a cast that also includes Colin Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, Kate Walsh, Adam Goldberg and Oliver Platt, with the Coens on board as executive producers. The series premieres on April 15th, and if it’s a hit, will continue “True Detective”-anthology style with a whole new story and new characters in season two — check out the trailer below.
