The Marvel machine keeps on chugging along. A mere two days before “Jessica Jones” returns to Netflix, the company has announced when we can expect to see her fellow Defender, the Hero of Harlem, back on the streaming service as well.

In the teaser seen below, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) directly addresses the audience, reminding them of his bulletproof skin and nigh-invincibility. “Wanna test me? I’m right here,” he taunts, before the release date for Season 2 is unveiled.

Last time we saw Luke was in the eight-episode “Defenders” miniseries in which he got sprung from jail and joined forces with New York’s other vigilantes — Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter); Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox); and Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) — to take on The Hand and Sigourney Weaver’s fantastic wardrobe. The conflict culminates in a face-off deep underneath the city, where the Hand has been unearthing a dragon’s bones, which provide the substance The Hand uses for its resurrections. In the end, Luke, Jessica, and Danny believe that Matt is dead, having sacrificed himself for the cause.

Season 2 of “Luke Cage” takes place sometime after that point, as our hero begins to dig into his past and into his family’s secrets that he only began to learn about before the whole Hand situation got, well, out of hand.

Returning cast includes Rosario Dawson as bad-ass nurse and love interest Claire Temple, Simone Missick as one-armed cop Misty Knight, Alfre Woodard as the ruthless councilwoman Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as criminal opportunist Shades, and new cast members Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis, among others. Danny Rand will also be stopping by for some reason.

Take a look at the teaser:

All episodes of “Marvel’s Luke Cage” Season 2 will be released on June 22.
