D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus are two long-working documentarians who will be honored by the Stranger Than Fiction documentary film series this year. The series, which is returning for its 25th year, will feature an eight week-long tribute to the two highly acclaimed filmmakers.
The two filmmakers will be present at screenings of their films and also participate in a Q&As. The season will open up with the 1979 film “Town Bloody Hall,” which marked the first collaboration between the filmmakers. Pennebaker’s “Jane,” “65 Revisited” and “Original Cast Album: Company” will also show. Other films that showcase the teaming up of Pennebaker and Hegedus (“Depeche Mode 101,” “Moon Over Broadway,” “The War Room”) will screen as part of the series as well.
