Radiohead Celebrates ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ Special Edition With Unnerving Video Short — Watch

One of the best parts about Radiohead‘s wildly acclaimed ninth studio album “A Moon Shaped Pool” was all the viral videos that accompanied the release. The band debuted surreal Instagram short films every Friday throughout the summer, pairing 60 seconds of certain songs with striking visuals from filmmakers like Yorgos Lanthimos (“The Lobster”) and Ben Wheatley (“High-Rise”). They also started a short film competition, asking fans to create a 60-second clip inspired from a snippet of audio from the track “Daydreaming.” Finally, they released an intimate performance video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Naturally, Radiohead is celebrating the release of the album’s special edition in similar viral fashion. The band posted a 55-second clip to their Twitter page earlier this morning announcing that “A Moon Shaped Pool” Special Edition copies were being shipped today. Like most of the videos accompanying the album, this one gradually grows more unnerving with its low-fi aesthetic and creepy voiceover. The clip is simply someone unpacking their copy of the album, but leave it to Radiohead to make that process a hypnotic experience.
