Watch: New Trailer for Fashion Videographer Lina Plioplyte’s ‘Advanced Style’ Doc

In this trailer for Lina Plioplyte’s documentary about the fashion passions of aging women in New York, we get introduced to some of the film’s subjects, people who dedicate themselves to their look everyday, “dressed up for the theater of [their lives].” The characters of this modern subculture are driven by a range of motivations spanning from childhood dreams of modeling glamour to something as basic as this: “I never wanted to look young, I want to look good.”

Plioplyte, a fashion videographer who was also named one of the Most Stylish New Yorkers by Time Out, made this film to examine the lives of seven unique women whose eclectic personal style and vital spirit have guided their approach to aging. It is her feature debut, on which she served as writer, director and cinematographer. 

“Advanced Style” is set for a September 26 release date after screening for enthusiastic audiences earlier this year at Hot Docs.
