Nicole Kidman‘s banner year just notched a huge milestone. The actress has won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie thanks to her role as Celeste in HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” Kidman’s performance drew notable praise for how the actress handled her character’s domestic abuse storyline, and she was the frontrunner to win over the likes of her co-star Reese Witherspoon, “Fargo” star Carrie Coon, and “Feud” darlings Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon.

The Emmy is the latest victory for Kidman this year. She was awarded a special 70th Anniversary Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where she premiered “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” “Top of the Lake: China Girl,” and “The Beguiled.” Later this year, Kidman will be the recipient of the 2017 Actress Tribute at the IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards.
The nomination for “Big Little Lies” is Kidman’s second career Emmy nomination for acting. She was last nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for HBO’s “Hemingway & Gellhorn.” Kidman is also nominated this year for Outstanding Limited Series as a producer of “Big Little Lies.”
