FIlmBuff Picks Up Detroit Crime Thriller ‘Cash Only’

After world premiering at the 2015 Fantasia Film Festival to great acclaim and the Best Director award, crime drama “Cash Only” has been picked up by FilmBuff, who has licensed worldwide distribution rights. Malik Bader’s acclaimed Detroit-set crime thriller will get a spring theatrical release and a day-and-date VOD opening.
Nickola Shreli, who
also wrote the film’s screenplay, plays Elvis Martini, a struggling
landlord at the end of his rope. Days away from losing his building to
bank foreclosure, he can’t pay back thousands in cash borrowed from
the dangerous Albanian underworld. His building is in shambles, and he’s
stuck with a prostitute tenant months behind on rent and a paranoid
marijuana grower who isn’t coughing up what he’s promised. The only
bright light in Elvis’ dark world is his nine-year-old
daughter Lena, but when he commits a crime of opportunity his daughter is
abducted, and Elvis must confront his inner demons to find
the cash needed to save her.

Detroit is not easily forgotten,” said FilmBuff Content Coordinator Jake Hanly in an official statement.
Added Bader: “We believe FilmBuff’s distinct approach and insight into the genre and thriller market makes

across America.”
