AFI Fest Adds 'Inherent Vice' Centerpiece Gala

Following its world premiere at the New York Film Festival earlier this month, Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “Inherent Vice” has been added to the AFI Fest line-up as a Centerpiece Gala screening on November 8 at the Egyptian Theatre.

Review: Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice’ is a Faithful and Endearing Thomas Pynchon Adaptation

This film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Larry “Doc” Sportello, a drug-addled private investigator roped into investigating the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.

According to the results of Indiewire’s NYFF 2014 Critics Poll, Anderson’s adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s 2009 novel of the same name ranked at the top in the Best Narrative, Best Director, Best Lead Performance and Best Ensemble. “Inherent Vice” joins a prestigious festival slate that so far includes “The Gambler,” “A Most Violent Year” and “Foxcatcher.”
