In anticipation of the British Film Institute‘s “2001: A Space Odyssey” screening as part of its “Sci-Fi: Days of Fears and Wonder” season, Ignition Creative London has issued a spectacular new trailer for the film, the first of its kind in nearly 40 years.
Like all of the movies that make up Stanely Kubrick’s filmography, “2001” is tailor-made for the big screen cinematic experience, and the new trailer has assembled some of the most iconic and grandiose images from the film in order to encourage people to see the science-fiction masterpiece the way it was intended to be seen. From Alex North’s bombastic score to the sinister narration provided by HAL 9000, the trailer is the perfect tease for newbies and a nostalgic, visceral rush for longtime fans.
“2001: A Space Odyssey” will screen on November 28 with a followup panel featuring stars Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. Other films featured in BFI’s sci-fi celebration include Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange,” “1984,” “Brazil” and “Barbarella.” Kubrick fans in Los Angeles can also check out “2001” on the big screen during a matinee showing on November 2 in the Arclight Hollywood Dome.
