Natalie Portman meets Lady Gaga and her own “Black Swan” character in the first look at Brady Corbet‘s upcoming music drama “Vox Lux.” The movie is world premiering in competition at the Venice Film Festival and marks the latest from writer-director Brady Corbet. Corbet got his start as an actor before making his feature directorial debut with “The Childhood of a Leader,” which won him best director honors in Venice’s Horizons sidebar.

“Vox Lux” stars Portman as Celeste, an international pop star who must confront her legacy in the hours leading up to a major concert. The supporting cast includes Jude Law, Jennifer Ehle, and Stacy Martin. Corbet worked with musician Sia on the film’s original soundtrack.

While “Vox Lux” is set to premiere at Venice, the film currently does not have a U.S. distributor. The role follows Portman’s appearance in Alex Garland’s “Annihilation” earlier this year, and she also has the astronaut drama “Pale Blue Dot” set for release next year.

Check out the first look at “Vox Lux” in the image below, which was recently posted to the Venice Film Festival’s website.
