Danny Boyle‘s much-anticipated “Steve Jobs,” based on Walter Isaacson’s biography, will have its European premiere as the closing film at the 59th BFI London Film Festival.

The biopic promises a revealing picture of the life and legacy of the late Steve Jobs (portrayed by Michael Fassbender) from the near-legendary launch of the Macintosh in 1984 until the unveiling of the iMac in 1998. The Aaron Sorkin-written film follows its eponymous character, the new world he built that fueled an unprecedented digital revolution and, of course, what he tore down in the process. “Steve Jobs” also features Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels, Michael Stuhlbarg and Katherine Waterston.

Of the London event, Danny Boyle said, “If London was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, then San Francisco is the Bethlehem of the digital one. We had a brilliant time making this movie in Silicon Valley and I hope Londoners will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the modern world.”

The London Film Festival will take place October 7-18. “Steve Jobs” will open in the U.S. on October 9, and Universal Pictures plans to release the film in theaters in the UK on November 13.
