The road film follows Eubanks (Danny Glover), who has lost or fumbled just about everything in his life except the one thing he loves most: his pigs. His daughter, Eunice (Maya Rudolph), yearns for her father to be there for her and his grandchildren. But despite Eunice’s pleas of closeness, Eubanks remains distant and overwhelmed with stress, so much so that he is goaded into taking his last prized pig down to Mexico in order to sell it for upwards of $50,000. In an attempt to save her father, Eunice travels with the aging man to Mexico, in a last ditch effort to find love, harmony, and familial intimacy with him.

Indiewire’s Editor-in-Chief Dana Harris joined the film’s director, Maya Rudolph and Danny Glover to discuss the newest flick and how it fits into the long tradition of Mexican road films. Catch Luna’s thoughts on how the film is a love letter to Mexico in the video above, and get all the highlights from the conversation below.
