'The Transfiguration' Poster: First Look Michael O'Shea's Cannes-Bound Vampire Drama

Ahead of its premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival this month, “The Transfiguration” has unveiled its evocative first poster exclusively on Indiewire. Described as an “atmospheric New York tale about love, loss…and vampires,” the film marks Michael O’Shea’s feature debut as director.

The stark, minimalist poster shows a man wearing a backpack with his silhouette gradually morphing into a Nosferatu-like figure. Protagonist Pictures has already taken on worldwide sales rights to the movie, with CEO Mike Goodridge saying in a statement that “Our entire team was knocked out by ‘The Transfiguration.’ It’s a wildly original and surprising film that marks major new talents in Michael O’Shea and his wonderful lead actor Eric Ruffin. We think the film will grab a lot of attention in Cannes.”

Un Certain Regard is often home to smaller, more outré fare than the auteur-heavy Competition. Joining “The Transfiguration” are “Captain Fantastic,” “After the Storm,” “Apprentice” and several others. Cannes begins on May 11 with the world premiere of Woody Allen’s “Café Society.”
