“Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” may not have jump started the DC Comics movie universe with the excitement as planned, but that’s not stopping us from getting excited for the franchise’s future. While James Wan’s “Aquaman” promises to be a unique experience, “The Flash” is really shaping up to be the most exciting of the upcoming lot, especially for indie movie lovers. Not only has “Dope” filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa replaced Seth Grahame-Smith in the director’s chair, but now Variety reports that Kiersey Clemons is the top choice for the female lead.

Plot details for the blockbuster are being kept under wraps for now, though word has it that Clemons will play Iris West, the journalist and friend of Barry Allen. Although Smith has been booted from directing duties, Warner Bros. is keeping his script in tact. He wrote the screenplay based on a treatment by “The Lego Movie” duo Chris Miller and Phil Lord. Ezra Miller is set to star as the titular hero after making his first appearance as the character in “Dawn of Justice.”

Clemons’ star has been on the rise ever since her breakout supporting turn in “Dope,” and her role in “The Flash” would mark a reunion between her and Famuyiwa. She was most recently seen in this summer’s “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” and she’s set to appear opposite Ellen Page and Kiefer Sutherland in the “Flatliners” reboot.
