Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Performance Film Coming This September
The widely acclaimed musician Nick Cave and his band the Bad Seeds last released an album in 2013. “Push The Sky Away” was widely acclaimed by critics and resulted in a successful tour for the group. Now, it looks Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are back with a new album and a film to boot. According to Laemmle Theatres website, a currently untitled performance film of the band performing songs off their new album is set to premiere on September 8th; the untitled album will be released at midnight on September 9th. The synopsis on the website also says that the record “has an intimacy and starkness that the film’s photographic style will reflect,” and that it will be shot in “black and white, color and 3-D.” Additionally, none of the tracks on the album will be released ahead of the premiere date as singles or exclusives, making “the screening of the film the first medium through which anyone anywhere will be able to hear & experience the songs.”

Over the course of a three-decade career, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have released fifteen albums. Some of their most acclaimed alums include “Tender Prey,” “Henry’s Dream,” “Let Love In,” and “Murder Ballads.” In 2014, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard released a musical docu-drama depicting a fictional day in the life of Nick Cave prior to and during the recording of “Push The Sky Away”; it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received positive reviews. Cave is set to appear in Wim Wender’s new film “The Beautiful Days of Aranjuez.”
