Focus Features Acquires Tom Ford's Upcoming 'Nocturnal Animals' Out of Cannes Market
Tom Ford's lush directorial debut is like a moving painting of grief, driven by a masterful performance by Colin Firth, for which he received an Oscar nomination. Every frame is a feast for the eye, and not just when Mathew Goode and Nicholas Hoult are onscreen. With "Nocturnal Animals" vying for Oscar attention, it's worth taking another look at Ford's first film.

Focus Features has announced the acquisition of Tom Ford’s upcoming thriller, “Nocturnal Animals,” which is set to star Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Ford will write, direct and produce the film through his production company, Fade to Black. He presented his vision of the project to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival and it will be the follow-up to his directorial debut, “A Single Man.”
Based on Austin Wright’s novel, “Tony and Susan,” “Nocturnal Animals focuses on an art gallery owner who is haunted by her ex-husband’s novel, a violent thriller which she interprets as a veiled threat.
“Tom’s vision for his film is unique and inspiring and something that global audiences will be thrilled by,” said Focus CEO Peter Schlessel.  “Tom has proven his prowess as a filmmaker and this romantic tale of revenge and regret will be a fantastic addition to our slate.”
