“Downton Abbey” fans were understandably bummed out when Dan “Cousin Matthew” Stevens departed the beloved BBC drama after its third season, but it’s hard to deny the old so-and-so has done well for himself since going solo. His next foray into television comes courtesy of Marvel and FX, for whom the English actor will play David Haller in “Legion.” Watch the show’s new teaser below.

Haller, AKA Legion, is Professor Xavier’s troubled son. According to the 30-second spot, he might also be “the most powerful mutant” a very official-looking dude has ever encountered. As you might imagine, this makes him the target of some unsavory types: Aubrey Plaza’s character laughingly informs Haller that “they’re coming and they’re gonna kill you.”

Unlike other Marvel series, like “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage,” “Legion” will be a self-contained narrative. Katie Aselton and Rachel Keller co-star in the show’s eight-episode first season, which will premiere on FX in early 2017.
