Riz Ahmed has quietly emerged as a highly sought-after actor in recent years, with his breakout role in “Nightcrawler” leading to turns in “Jason Bourne,” HBO’s “The Night of,” and the upcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The British performer has been just as busy with his music career over the last decade, and his group Swet Shop Boys is set to release its new album “Cashmere” this week. The stream, which comes courtesy of NPR, precedes the album’s official release date of this Friday, October 14. Ahmed is joined by Heems, previously of Das Racist, and producer Redinho in Swet Shop Boys; he has also released two solo albums under the name Riz MC: 2011’s “Microscope” and this year’s “Englistan.”
The actor/rapper has had an especially busy 2016, appearing in the films “Una” and “City of Tiny Lights” — both of which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. “Rogue One,” his next movie, will be released December 16.
