Selfie” is slated to premiere September 30 on ABC. “A to Z” is set for an October 2 debut. Yet their true unveilings have already happened, as both shows were released yesterday online for all to see. Both programs’ pilots are available via their respective networks’ websites or on the popular streaming service for current television, Hulu — even though they’re well over a month away from airing on television.

Many networks have been choosing to unveil their premiere or pilot episodes online: “Halt and Catch Fire” pushed their first episode out on Tumblr before it aired on AMC, and the recent Starz series “Outlander” released its pilot early as well. Showtime has made a habit of releasing their shows online, including “Californication,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Masters of Sex,” and “Ray Donovan.” And “The Leftovers” released their first episode the day after it aired online, which could have helped boost its massive VOD/HBO GO following

“Selfie” stars Karen Gillan as a social media addict looking for a real life makeover from a work colleague (John Cho), who just so happens to be a master at cultivating a proper public image. The two bicker and fight, as one of them is a superficial socialite while the other is a private pessimist. Of course, [spoiler alert!] they’re bound to fall in love.

No spoiler needed for the love story in “A to Z.” NBC’s pilot from executive producer Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation”) tells the story of one couple’s relationship from inception to its end point. The pilot is a little vague on whether or not they break up, with a narrator stating the exact time the couple is “dating” but not whether or not they then become engaged, married, or call it all off. The half-hour single camera comedy stars Ben Feldman (“Mad Men”) and Cristin Milioti (“How I Met Your Mother”).
