This past May, Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander set up a production company called Vikarious Productions. The company previously announced that its first film would be “Euphoria,” the English-language directorial debut of award-winning Swedish writer and director Lisa Langseth, which stars Vikander, Eva Green (“Casino Royale”), and Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years”). Now, production has officially begun on “Euphoria,” and a first image is now available. See it below.

The film tells the story of Ines (Vikander) and Emilie (Green), two sisters meeting up again after many years apart and the profound journey that they undertake together. The supporting cast includes Charles Dance (“Ghostbusters”), Adrian Lester (“Primary Colors”), and Mark Stanley (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”).

Vikander previously collaborated with Langseth on her two previous Swedish-language films, “Pure,” about a young woman’s troubled relationship with music, and “Hotel,” about a woman who joins a therapy group for people who experience various forms of trauma. Vikander recently won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “The Danish Girl”; she also had critically acclaimed turns in “Ex Machina,” “Testament of Youth,” and “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”
