“It’s almost like the whole room moved when he walked through the crowd.” “He had this wonderful sense of humor about himself, but he had a sadness, too.” “He was hurting — he was really, really hurting.” These are just some of the words spoken about André the Giant in HBO‘s upcoming documentary about the wrestler-turned-actor, whom everyone seems to have admired greatly — even and especially because they knew he wasn’t long for this world. Watch the new trailer for “André the Giant” below.

He’s remembered by the likes of Ric Flair, Robin Wright, Vince McMahon, Billy Crystal, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who recalls the gentle giant’s ability to “grab me out of the chair and hold me up like a little doll.” Born André René Roussimoff, he was one of the World Wrestling Federation’s biggest stars — along with Hulk Hogan, he main-evented WrestleMania III in front of a reported 93,000 fans — before transitioning into an acting career that included roles in films like “Conan the Barbarian” and “The Princess Bride.”

Jason Hehir directed “André the Giant,” which is set to air on HBO on April 10.
