Sarah Silverman, Judd Apatow, and Others Blast Terry Gilliam for Ill-Advised #MeToo Comments: ‘Idiotic and Dangerous’
Terry Gilliam didn’t endear himself to many when he said that #MeToo is both “silly” and turning into “mob rule,” lamenting that the movement is akin to a group of people “carrying their torches and they are going to burn down Frankenstein’s castle.” Though he clarified that Harvey Weinstein — with whom the Monty Python member and filmmaker worked on “The Brothers Grimm” — is a “monster” and “asshole,” Gilliam also said that, for some women, “a night with Harvey — that’s the price you pay.”
His comments have drawn widespread ire, including from fellow members of the film community. Sarah Silverman, Judd Apatow, and “La La Land” producer Jordan Horowitz have all chimed in:
