‘Kong: Skull Island’: The Beast Awakens In First Poster
The king is awaken in the first poster for the highly-anticipated film, “Kong: Skull Island.” An impressive new one-sheet was released by Warner Bros. and features a lone explorer on top of a massive skull, looking at a colossal Kong in the background.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the action/adventure flick is set in the ‘70s and centers on King Kong’s origins. Following a group of explorers who travel to an uncharted island, they soon find out that things aren’t quite as they appear. Tom Hiddleston plays Captain James Conrad, a former British SAS officer and Brie Larson plays Weaver, a photojournalist and peace activist who wants to “work with the nature and with these creatures rather than fight against them.” Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman and “Straight Outta Compton” stars Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins also co-star.
This time around Kong is expected to be even bigger than the previously-seen beasts. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where they revealed the first still, director Vogt-Roberts described the new look.
“From the size of the skull, you can tell that things on this island are much bigger than audiences are used to with traditional Kong lore,” he stated. “Our Kong is by far the biggest Kong that you’ve seen on screen, and that translates to a lot of different things on the island.”
“The thing that most interested me was…how big does this creature need to be, so that when you stand on the ground and you look up at it, the only thing that can go through your mind is: ‘That’s a god,'” he said. “You will see when we drop a trailer.”
