Screened at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival, Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson’s “The Humbling” (based on the novel by American author Philip Roth) stars Al Pacino not as a mobster, but as Simon Axler, a man who has an affair with a lesbian. 

“I thought, why not this of all films, because it’s about, in a way, us, really. It’s about what we do, what we know,” Pacino said about the storyline. The conversation between him, Levinson and moderator Annette Insdorf delves into scene dissections, on-set improvisation, Pacino’s experience in Broadway theater and more.

“The Humbling” will see a limited release in theaters by Millennium Entertainment January 23. Check out the full discussion below:
