Exclusive: 'The Look of Silence' Gets Visually Haunting Mondo Poster

READ MORE: Review: ‘The Look of Silence’ is Joshua Oppenheimer’s First-Rate Followup to ‘The Act of Killing’

Designer Jay Shaw has collaborated with Mondo once again for a memorable poster touting the release of Joshua Oppenheimer‘s acclaimed “The Look of Silence.” Shaw was the artist behind the Mondo poster for “The Act of Killing” in July 2013, and he’s created a fitting companion image for Oppenhiemer’s latest exploration of the Indonesian Genocide.

Whereas “The Act of Killing” centered around death squad leaders, “The Look of Silence” focuses on the victims, mainly an optometrist named Adi whose brother was murdered during the killings. Adi decides to break the spell of terror by doing something unimaginable in a society where the murderers remain in power: he confronts the men who killed his brother and, while testing their eyesight, asks them to accept responsibility for their actions.

Check out both of Shaw’s startling posters below. Visit the Mondo website to purchase “The Look of Silence” poster starting tomorrow, follow @mondonews on Twitter for exact on-sale info. The new poster is 18 inches by 24 inches, is part of an edition of just 75 and will be priced at $35 a poster.

If you haven’t yet seen “The Act of Killing,” you can rent it on Vimeo at a special price. Check out how to do just that, thanks to this week’s Screen Talk.
