Mel Gibson Reveals His Opinion of ‘Fury Road’ and Recounts the Genius of George Miller
Mel Gibson might be George Miller‘s biggest fan. During an interview with Collider this week, the actor-writer-director finally shared his thoughts on 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” Miller’s remake of his own 1979 film “Mad Max,” starring Gibson as the title character.

“It’s visually spectacular,” Gibson said. “It’s crazy, but that’s George. He’s a scientist. He’s the Einstein of edit, and of being able to get the pieces necessary to make a truly compelling, in-your-face action sequence.”
Gibson’s latest directorial project is the the World War II film “Hacksaw Ridge,” starring Andrew Garfield as American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who refused to kill people during the Battle of Okinawa and was the first Conscientious Objector in American history to receive the Medal of Honor. The film hits theaters on Friday, November 4.

Gibson also teased out a few scant details about his future plans, which include directing one or more of four scripts he wrote during his 10-year hiatus from filmmaking. His next opportunity to step behind the camera has yet to be determined however, as he hasn’t attracted the necessary funding for any of his future films.
