The new trailer for the Kate Mara thriller “Morgan” has all the classic ingredients of a scary sci-fi film: an underground lab with reinforced glass walls, computer screens displaying visuals of genetic mutation, and a character who screams, “Don’t go in there!”

The directorial debut of Luke Scott, son of Ridley, who produced the movie, “Morgan” stars “The Witch’s” Anya Taylor-Joy as a bioengineered human with near super powers. “It’s the next step in evolution,” says a scientist played by Toby Jones. “It exceeded our wildest expectations.”

If the movie’s trailer is any indication, “Morgan” looks to be a by-the-numbers lab experiment gone terribly wrong film. The inciting incident appears to be a violent episode in which the genetic experiment being raised in a glass box, Morgan, lashed out against one of her creators, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. Enter Mara, from “corporate,” who says she’s just there “looking for some information about Morgan.”

As you probably guessed, what she gets amounts to much more than info. Here’s the official synopsis:

A corporate troubleshooter is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

Unlike the first trailer for “Morgan,” we now get a close up look at the title character. Check out the trailer below.
