The Channing Tatum-starring “Gambit” has been in development for quite some time. Now, thanks to writer-producer Simon Kinberg it looks like production for the film might start in the spring of 2017.
“We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning — or spring — of next year,” Kinberg said during an interview at the 2016 Saturn Awards.
The solo movie for the card-throwing Cajun was supposed to be released in theaters this year, but then Rupert Wyatt was replaced as director with Doug Liman. Because of the delay its October release has been pushed to an undetermined date.

During the short interview, Kinberg also revealed that “Deadpool 2” is likely to start shooting at the beginning of 2017, and is also going to be writing the next “X-Men” film “real soon.” He also discussed the unknown superhero film that is in development. The movie will be directed by Josh Boone and will stay true to the comics.
