Watch: Mark Ruffalo is Manic Depressive Dad 'Infinitely Polar Bear' Trailer

“Infinitely Polar Bear,” written and directed by Maya Forbes, tells the story of Cam (Mark Ruffalo), a manic depressive father of two girls. The film’s trailer shows Cam scrambling to care for his children after his wife (Zoe Saldana) decides to go away to business school. 

Cam’s two precocious daughters struggle to teach their dad how to be responsible and deal with his mental illness without ruining their lives, yet he is completely overwhelmed by simple chores like doing the dishes. “I think if you could stop drinking, and take your Lithium, then Mommy would let you come home,” Cam’s daughter tells him practically. 

The story was inspired by the filmmaker’s own father. “I wanted to show that a person’s not defined by their mental illness, that’s just a part of them,” Forbes said at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, to The Independent

“Infinitely Polar Bear” is set for release in the U.S. on June 19. Watch the trailer below:
