Darren Aronofsky Set Receive MPSE Filmmaker Award

The Motion Picture Sound Editors will honor writer-director Darren Aronofsky with its annual Filmmaker Award during the 62nd MPSE Golden Reel Awards, which are slated to take place in February 2015.

Sound manipulation is indeed a trademark of Aronofsky’s surrealist style of filmmaking.

“One of the first reasons I was inspired to become a filmmaker was the exciting possibilities of experimenting with sound, so it is an incredible feeling to be honored by the MPSE,” Aronofsky said in a statement issued by the MPSE. “Sound dreams, sound emotes, and most importantly sound is what often saves my ass.”

Aronofsky’s latest film, the biblical epic “Noah,” was released earlier this year.
