Alamo Drafthouse has added Richard Linklater‘s “Boyhood” to its Drafthouse Recommends roster, which is a screening series that spotlights first-run titles that the Drafthouse team loves and believes should be seen by as many people as possible.
According to Drafthouse founder Tim League, “You may never see anything like ‘Boyhood’ in your
lifetime. This film is truly
special, a monumental achievement in cinema. If you consider yourself a
movie fan, ‘Boyhood’ is mandatory viewing.”
To express Drafthouse’s excitement about the film, League not only recorded a brief introduction to the trailer, but also produced a rather amusing PSA about texting during a movie, which stars Linklater — who reveals an unexpected detail about his past employment. Some might call it his best performance since the first scene of “Slacker.”
You can watch both videos below and catch “Boyhood” in theaters this Friday, July 9th.
