Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

ACTION!

Tweetable Logline:

The film about film you’ve been waiting for

Elevator Pitch:

Action is key on a movie set, Nick Ray said, what you want to do, and action in life is not so different from action in film. In ACTION! Hollywood outcast, legend, and filmmaker, Ray talks filmcraft, Hollywood, politics, technology, sex, relationships, baseball—LIFE.

Filmmaking for him was not imitating life; it was a way of creating it. Some said Ray’s teaching and direction were like shamanic healing.

We’ll cut from sound and pic that Ray shot himself between 1969-79. ACTION! is the third of three films produced in honor of Ray’s centenary. The first two premiered at Venice last year.

Production Team:

Director/Writer/Producer: Susan Ray
Producers: Eric Nyari, Engin Yenidunya
Executive Producer: Oskar MIelczarek
Cinematographer: Peter McCandliss
Restoration Team: Seth Berkowitz and Danny DeVincent

About the Production:

“As a young person I felt, in Nick’s words, “never properly introduced to the world,” so I sought out those who understood better than I how to live. Nick was my teacher as well as my husband. He taught more through his actions than with words–and he was always engaging to watch! Now the same age Nick was when I knew him, I see many hungry for the wisdom and knowledge he had of film, the arts in general, and life. This film is a chance to offer it.” – Susan Ray

Current Status:

Post-production
