In 2012, Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen‘s Danish comedy “Klown,” based on their Danish TV sitcom of the same name, had its U.S. premiere at Fantastic Fest, where it won Best Picture and Best Screenplay in the comedy category. The film follows Frank (Hvam) who kidnaps his pregnant girlfriend’s 12-year-old nephew and takes him on a debauched canoe trip with his best friend Casper (Christensen). It received critical acclaim for its “Curb Your Enthusiasm”-esque cringe comedy and its raunchy set pieces.

Now, Hvam and Christensen have returned for the film’s sequel, “Klown Forever,” in which the two now-estranged friends travel to Hollywood to seek fame and fortune, only to dive into more wildly inappropriate misadventures and mortifying social situations. It features appearances from Isla Fisher (“Wedding Crashers”), Adam Levine (“Workaholics”), and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”). Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

The sequel is again directed by Mikkel Nøgaard, who directed the original series. He’ll also direct two episodes of the upcoming TNT drama “Good Behavior.” Meanwhile, Frank Hvam recently appeared in the sixth season finale of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” as a Citadel maester.

“Klown Forever” will be released in theaters and on VOD on September 2 from Drafthouse Films.
