‘Certain Women’ Clips: Kristen Stewart And Michelle Williams Star In Kelly Reichardt’s Triptych Drama

One of the most exciting actor-director collaborations to emerge in recent years is that between Michelle Williams and indie auteur Kelly Reichardt. In both “Wendy and Lucy” and “Meek’s Cutoff,” the duo have invited viewers to observe feminine struggles in ways both subtle and profound, and the trend continues in the director’s latest film, “Certain Women.” The drama premiered at Sundance earlier this year to considerable acclaim and is screening at TIFF and NYFF this fall.

Using a triptych narrative device, “Certain Women” explores the hardships three women face living in the American Northwest, though their trials and tribulations will surely resonant with all women. Williams stars as a new home owner who is having relationship problems with her husband (James Le Gros). Kristen Stewart plays a young teacher who strikes up a bond with a lonely ranch hand, played by newcomer Lily Gladstone. Laura Dern rounds out the trio as a lawyer who finds herself contending with office sexism and a hostage situation.
