The new "South Park" video game includes some brilliant and scathing social commentary. We wouldn't expect it any other way.

The upcoming “South Park: The Fractured But Whole” video game is making headlines for a specific setting in which the difficulty you choose to play the game changes the color of your avatar’s skin. The Ubisoft comedy game is set for release next month.

Video game users create their own “South Park” character at the start of the game and can change features like hair color, facial hair, and clothing, but the skin color of your character is based entirely on which difficulty setting you choose. The difficulty setting is a sliding scale that ranges from “Easy” to “Very Difficult.” The game’s developers told Eurogamer that the scale affects the amount of money you receive and the way other characters speak to you throughout the course of the game.

Determining your avatar’s skin color based on the difficulty setting is the kind of scathing social commentary “South Park” fans have come to expect from the long-running Comedy Central series. The video game is available October 17. Watch two members of the Eurogamer team go through the RPG game in the video below.
