Evan Husney, Creative Director at Drafthouse Films, is leaving his post after over two years with the company. He’s moving on from Drafthouse to pursue a career in producing full-time.
“In
under three short years what we accomplished together at Drafthouse Films
was nothing short of miraculous,” Husney said in a statement to Indiewire. “With a small, dedicated team we
achieved two Academy Award nominations [for ‘Act of Killing‘ and ‘Bullhead’] and built a brand of excellent
and diverse features. Additionally, we amassed an enthusiastic fan base,
proving that its possible for a distribution label to exist
predicated solely on the strength of its curation. I am happy to have
been a founding team member, but making the transition to producing
features has been my true passion since I entered this business.“
Husney told Indiewire that he’s currently working as co-producer on new films from Jason Eisener (“Hobo With a Shotgun”) and Todd Rohal (“Catechism Cataclysm”).
“I’m incredibly grateful to be working with two of the most exciting
filmmakers today, Jason Eisener and Todd Rohal, to bring their unique
visions to the big screen,” he said.
