52: The Search for the Loneliest Whale

Tweetable Logline: The film will explore how one incredible whale’s experience of profound solitude has made us all more connected to the ocean.

Elevator Pitch: The film will document our quest to find the Loneliest Whale in the world, also known as “52.” Scientists have been hearing the Lonely Whale’s unique call for decades, but haven’t come close to finding him. We hope to solve the mystery. Along the way, we will learn about whales, the ocean, and ourselves. We have assembled a team of marine scientists to partake in the expedition, and are uniting the whale’s prolific community behind our quest. We will explore how one incredible whale’s experience of profound solitude has made us all more connected to the ocean.

Production Team:

Josh Zeman, Director/Producer (Gigantic Pictures)
Adrian Grenier, Executive Producer (Reckless Productions)
Lucy Cooper, Producer (Alldayeveryday)
Shawn Heinrichs, Director of Photography (Blue Sphere)

About the Film: This documentary is more than just a physical search for the Whale, it’s about an emotional search. We’re all the lonely whale searching for connection in the vast ocean we call life. So, will we find the whale? Well, it’s not going to be easy, but we have some of the best scientists in the world coming aboard our expedition. While on our quest, we are going to study the effects of Ocean Noise Pollution, one of the most harmful threats to marine mammals world-wide. In doing so, we will help whales and other marine life around the world.

Current Status: Fundraising. Though we are at the beginning of our mission, we have recruited the best marine organizations and scientific minds to help in our quest.
