Ben McKenzie hasn’t been on network television since “The O.C.” went off the air in 2007 (*sheds tear*), but he’s coming back to Fox in a big way with the anticipated Batman-inspired series, “Gotham.”

Fox has been releasing character shots for the show over the past few weeks, and today gave us our first glimpse at its lead character, James Gordon. Anyone who kept up with McKenzie on “Southland” — or anyone who watched “The O.C.” considering the actor’s baby face — shouldn’t see much of a difference, but take a look at the image below.

Fox has been releasing the images via the show’s Twitter account. Images of The Penguin, Catwoman, Alfred Pennyworth, and Harvey Bullock have all been released. The show serves as an origin story not just for the will-be Commissioner Gordon, played perfectly by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s film trilogy, but also for the many villains populating Gotham City.

“Gotham” is expected to premiere this fall.
