Maysles, the director of “Grey Gardens” and “Gimme Shelter,” is no stranger to stories about eccentric female characters. Iris Apfel is a 93-year-old interior designer, business woman, and style maven whose influence on the New York style scene can be traced back decades. The documentary offers a unique perspective into the delightful life of a living legend.

“‘Iris’ is an exceptionally charming and moving film about a life well-lived,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles in a press release. “I was completely taken by Iris Apfel watching it, and I’m confident audiences will fall for her too.”

The film was produced by Laura Coxson, Rebekah Maysles and Jennifer Ash Rudick. “Iris” premiered at the New York Film Festival earlier this month and is set for a theatrically release in 2015.
