2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Actress TV Movie/Limited Series

Frances McDormand: an Oscar winner with a slew of other nominations and accolades earned throughout her prestigious career. Maggie Gyllenhaal: a young, well-respected talent who already has a Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination and now her first Emmy nod. Felicity Huffman: an Oscar nominee with a Golden Globe and Emmy win, as well, Huffman is a beloved member of the thespian crowd. Queen Latifah: an Oscar nominee (sensing a theme, here?) popular with the public as well as her peers. Emma Thompson: two Oscars; two Golden Globes; one Emmy, and that’s excluding all of her additional nominations. Jessica Lange: two Oscars, three Emmys, five Golden Globes, one SAG Award.

Perhaps the most stacked competition when it comes to the awards history of its contenders, whoever receives the Best Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie this year might cherish the victory over their peers more than the trophy itself. Of course, there’s an argument to be made for any one of them to be the frontrunner, but Frances McDormand and Queen Latifah have to be feeling the most lucky. Both earned critical raves. Both have yet to win an Emmy. Both provided perhaps the best performances of their respective careers. It could be anyone, but it’s probably one of these two.

Below are predictions for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series from both Indiewire Awards Editor Peter Knegt and TV Critic Ben Travers.
