Attention, Screenwriters: Hasty Pudding Institute and Black List Offering First-Ever Fellowship

The Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770, the revered theatrical society at Harvard, is collaborating with the Black List, an online mecca for screenwriters, to create the Hasty Pudding Institute Screenwriting Fellowship. The fellowship will offer a $20,000 grant to aspiring satire and social commentary writers.

“We are incredibly excited to announce this innovative fellowship,” said Andrew L. Farkas, Graduate Chairman and Grand Sphinx of the Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770. “Satire is at the roots of the Hasty Pudding’s history. We couldn’t be more thrilled to help discover and promote writers in this rich tradition.”

Starting today, writers will be able to submit their scripts to the Black List for consideration. Submissions are due by July 10.

From the pool of entries, the Black List will select finalists who will be evaluated by a Hasty Pudding judging panel. Although the panel members haven’t all been revealed, Hasty Pudding alumni Helen Estabrook, producer of Jason Reitman’s “Labor Day” as well as former “Daily Show” lead writer David Javerbaum and co-creator of “Trophy Wife” Sarah Haskins have been announced as judges.
