All publicity is good publicity, but can no publicity be great publicity? That’s the question that came to mind after Will Ferrell stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” following the Super Bowl Sunday night.
Dressed in the duds of a true outdoorsman, Ferrell was technically there to promote “Zoolander 2,” in which he co-stars as the evil clothing designer Mugatu. But he didn’t want to talk about “Zoolander 2.” In fact, he made a point not to talk about it despite Colbert prodding him a number of times to do just that.
Instead, Ferrell wanted to audition for “The Late Show’s” new “Exotic Animal Expert,” a tradition dating back to “The Tonight Show,” Letterman’s “Late Show” and beyond, but has since been largely retired on the late night talk circuit. Ferrell made a strong case for himself with his choices for animals and animal names, if not his expertise in species identification.
Watch the video above, and — unlike Ferrell — do remember to check out “Zoolander 2” in theaters Friday, February 12.
