You had me at “25-page mission statement.” As you surely remember from “Jerry Maguire,” the eponymous sports agent famously played by Tom Cruise makes his guilt-ridden crisis of conscience official by distributing a memo titled “The Things We Think and Do Not Say: The Future of His Business” to his more callous co-workers. He then bails, taking Renee Zellweger and some fish with him. Cruise and Crowe later collaborated on the underrated “Vanilla Sky,” a melancholic dreamscape that signaled the beginning of the filmmaker’s less well-received output after the huge consecutive successes of “Jerry Maguire” and “Almost Famous.”
