Project of the Day: 'The Haircut'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

The Haircut

Tweetable Logline: In 1976, females were let into military academies after a 174-year ban; Amy is one of the first.

Elevator Pitch: Set in 1976, “The Haircut” follows Amy as she struggles through her choice to enter the male-dominated U.S. Military during turbulent times. Faced with extreme sexism and the harsh physical and emotional demands of her calling, Amy fights to prove that women should be treated equally.

Production Team:
Alexis O. Korycinski – Director
Julia Cox – Writer
Brian Korycinski – Executive Producer
Jenifer Madson – Executive Producer

About the film: When I set out to make this film, I wanted to create something that showed a strong woman – someone who, against all odds, overcame opposition to change the course of society. With “The Haircut,” we have a unique opportunity to highlight a groundbreaking moment for women in American history, one that is rarely given a cinematic platform. This project is not just about making a beautiful film, but about showing girls that ambition and “girl power” is important to the growth of our country. Women can do anything that men can do, and this film shows that.

Current Status: Funds for equipment, production, post production fees and much more!
